One of three armed dacoits along with loot was caught by citizens near a bus stop in Liaqatpur, given a sound beating, and handed over to local police.
The accused had held up a farmer Muhammad Arshad who was waiting for a bus to Ameenabad to make payment to owners of a pomegranate orchard in Bahawalpur, which he had bought on contract for the season. The man was carrying Rs 400,000 which was snatched by the accused, who fled from the scene while firing into the air. However, some brave passers-by chased him and caught one of them with the looted money, while the other two managed to escape. The culprit beaten by the gleeful public and handed over to police has been identified as Tasleem of Uch Sharif, while a case was registered him. |
